Collection Methodology

Every record in the SENTRIX benchmark database undergoes a structured ingestion pipeline. Raw data is collected via automated extraction from public government portals, development finance institution APIs, and published institutional reports. Each record is normalised to a 140+ attribute schema covering budget, timeline, team composition, risk events, methodology, compliance outcomes, and delivery performance. Records are deduplicated using a composite key of project name, awarding authority, contract value, and award date. A minimum of 80% attribute completeness is required for inclusion in the benchmark set. Records below this threshold are quarantined for manual enrichment.

  • Automated daily extraction from National Treasury eTenders portal (government tenders, awards, deviations)
  • CIDB Register of Projects API integration with quarterly full-refresh reconciliation
  • AGSA annual and special audit report parsing with structured finding extraction
  • World Bank Project Database and IEG evaluation reports via Open Data API
  • African Development Bank project portfolio with MapAfrica geospatial data
  • Engineering News / Creamer Media project announcements with NLP-based entity extraction
  • Parliamentary Monitoring Group committee report structured data feeds
  • Municipal IDP and SDBIP documents from CoGTA and provincial treasury portals
  • PMI Pulse of the Profession and IPMA Global Project Economy reports for international benchmarks
  • SOE annual and integrated reports (Eskom, Transnet, SANRAL, Rand Water, PRASA, SAA, Denel)

Process

How It Works

From onboarding to continuous refinement, the Fingerprint engine works in four stages.

Set Up Project

Define your project dimensions during onboarding. Sector, budget, scale, governance model, technology stack, and compliance requirements are captured in a structured profile.

DNA Matching

The algorithm scans 100,000+ project profiles across all seven dimensions, scoring similarity and ranking the closest matches to your project DNA.

Pattern Detection

Intelligent analysis identifies risks, opportunities, and lessons learned from matched projects. Surface the patterns that matter before they become problems.

Continuous Learning

As your project progresses, the system refines its predictions. New data from your delivery feeds back into the model, improving accuracy over time.

Key Findings

Research-Backed Insights

Patterns extracted from 20 years of project delivery data across South African and global infrastructure programmes.

73%

Of projects with 3 or more scope changes exceed their budget by more than 20%. Early scope lock and change-control discipline remain the strongest predictors of financial performance.

2.4x

Projects with governance maturity scores above 7 out of 10 are 2.4 times more likely to deliver on time. Steering committee cadence and escalation protocols are the two highest-weight factors.

34%

Early risk identification within the first 20% of the project timeline reduces cost overrun by 34%. The Fingerprint engine flags matched-project risks at onboarding, not mid-delivery.

12%

B-BBEE Level 1 contractors show 12% higher milestone adherence in infrastructure projects. Transformation compliance correlates with stronger project management capability.

Regulatory Alignment

Built-In Compliance Frameworks

South African regulatory compliance is not an afterthought. Every dashboard, report, and alert is designed around the frameworks that govern public and private sector delivery.
